瑞典旅店方面认为中国旅客定错了日期，却长时间停留在大厅，对旅店造成了威胁。

对事发旅店负责人进行了采访，这名负责人称：
“From our side, we only know that we have done everything we have been able to do for this guest, but at the same time we cannot accept that our staff members are exposed to threats and that other guests will suffer from a threatening situation in our hotel.”
“从我们的角度来说，我认为我们已经竭尽所能帮助这几位客人了，但同时，我们不能接受我们的员工处于威胁之下，这种威胁还将影响到酒店里的其他客人。”
瑞典《晚报》16日还援引一位目击者的消息称：
“This young guy, it must be the son, he was weird. He just threw himself straight out.”
这个年轻人，大概是儿子，他表现很奇怪，突然就自己扑倒在地上。

对于瑞典媒体报道的内容，曾先生在接受《环球时报》的采访时，
承认他在街上确实有大声抗议、喊叫，向前扑倒也是在“失去理智情况下的举动”，“但这不是撒泼”
。
中国驻瑞典大使馆和中国外交部在斯德哥尔摩和北京向瑞典提出严正交涉，强调瑞典警察的行为严重侵犯中国公民的生命安全和基本人权。大使馆发言人在9月15日对事件发表谈话。

9月2日凌晨，瑞典警察粗暴对待在斯德哥尔摩的3名中国游客，中国驻瑞典大使馆对此深感震惊和愤慨，对瑞典警察的行为予以强烈谴责。
The Embassy and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China have made solemn representations to the Swedish government respectively in Stockholm and Beijing, stressing that what the police had done severely endangered the life and violated the basic human rights of the Chinese citizens. We urged the Swedish government to conduct thorough and immediate investigation, and respond to the Chinese citizens’ requests for punishment, apology and compensation in time.
