The Fourth Industrial Revolution, marked by Internet industrialization and industrial intelligence, and characterized by technology integration, is profoundly affecting and changing cities with a series of emerging disruptive technologies, especially information and communication technology (ICT). The transformation of digital technology will dominate the world in the next 100 years and beyond. Traditional design approaches will not be capable to deal with the spatial needs of people’s daily life. The concepts of architecture and urban planning shall be expanded, and new physical forms that adapt to functional changes by new technology and lifestyle shall be established for varied behavioral uses. The paper puts forwards design concepts of “spatial intervention, place making, and digital innovation” towards the future, studies design approaches that integrates ICT, so as to create high quality living environment and improve daily life.
