Whilethey were listening to this, he went on to tell them a parable, because he wasnear Jerusalem and the people thought that the kingdom of God was going toappear at once.

12 有一个贵胄往远方去，要得国回来。

Hesaid: 'A man of noble birth went to a distant country to have himself appointedking and then to return.

13 便叫了他的十个仆人来，交给他们十锭银子（锭原文作弥拿，一弥拿约银十两），说，你们去作生意，直等我回来。

Sohe called ten of his servants and gave them ten minas. `Put this money towork,' he said, `until I come back.'

14 他本国的人却恨他，打发使者随后去说，我们不愿意这个人作我们的王。

'Buthis subjects hated him and sent a delegation after him to say, `We don't wantthis man to be our king.'

15 他既得国回来，就吩咐叫那领银子的仆人来，要知道他们作生意赚了多少。

'Hewas made king, however, and returned home. Then he sent for the servants towhom he had given the money, in order to find out what they had gained with it.

16 头一个上来说，主阿，你的一锭银子，已经赚了十锭。

'Thefirst one came and said, `Sir, your mina has earned ten more.'

17 主人说，好良善的仆人。你既在最小的事上有忠心，可以有权柄管十座城。

'`Welldone, my good servant!' his master replied. `Because you have been trustworthyin a very small matter, take charge of ten cities.'

18 第二个来说，主阿，你的一锭银子，已经赚了五锭。

'Thesecond came and said, `Sir, your mina has earned five more.'

19 主人说，你也可以管五座城。

'Hismaster answered, `You take charge of five cities.'

20 又有一个来说，主阿，看哪，你的一锭银子在这里，我把他包在手巾里存着。

'Thenanother servant came and said, `Sir, here is your mina; I have kept it laidaway in a piece of cloth.

21 我原是怕你，因为你是严厉的人。没有放下的还要去拿，没有种下的还要去收。

Iwas afraid of you, because you are a hard man. You take out what you did notput in and reap what you did not sow.'

22 主人对他说，你这恶仆，我要凭你的口，定你的罪。你既知道我是严厉的人，没有放下的还要去拿，没有种下的还要去收。

'Hismaster replied, `I will judge you by your own words, you wicked servant! Youknew, did you, that I am a hard man, taking out what I did not put in, andreaping what I did not sow?

23 为什么不把我的银子交给银行，等我来的时候，连本带利都可以要回来呢？

Whythen didn't you put my money on deposit, so that when I came back, I could havecollected it with interest?'

24 就对旁边站着的人说，夺过他这一锭来，给那有十锭的。

'Thenhe said to those standing by, `Take his mina away from him and give it to theone who has ten minas.'

25 他们说，主阿，他已经有十锭了。

'`Sir,'they said, `he already has ten!'

26 主人说，我告诉你们，凡有的，还要加给他。没有的，连他所有的，也要夺过来。

'Hereplied, `I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but as forthe one who has nothing, even what he has will be taken away.

27 至于我那些仇敌不要我作他们王的，把他们拉来，在我面前杀了吧。

Butthose enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them--bring them hereand kill them in front of me.''
