这里所提到的 “big” 翻成「大事」。字本身的意思是「大」，在这个地方它是引申为「因企图心大所产生大的愿景，希望…等」的意思。美国的房地产大亨 Donald Trump (川普) 就很喜欢说：”I think big.” 他还说：”If you are going to think anyway, you might as well think big.” 也就是：「反正你都要想，还不如想大一点。」

诺曼‧文森特‧皮尔 (1898-1993) 为牧师及作者，其最有名的著作为 The Power of Positive Thinking (正面思考的力量)，他是「正面思考」理论的先驱之一。
