The first-phase complex is a three-dimensional grid, based on a 5.4m by 4.8m unit in plan, which follows the slope. The units of twenty apartments step back onto the slope, and the roofs of the lower levels are used as terraces; the result is a set of independent units, each with its own personality. Vegetation penetrates into the interior of the building, allowing its residents to live in harmony with nature. In subsequent projects, Ando has frequently employed the idea of the rooftop terrace. The second-phase complex is situated next to the first-phase complex, but both are independent of each other.

In the second phase of the project, Tadao Ando obtained a land area four times larger than that of the first phase and designed 50 residential units. Unlike the first phase, which was subject to many restrictions, the second phase of the building, although the appearance is a unified rectangular combination, cleverly integrates a variety of apartment types. Ando uses a 5.2m x 5.2m square plane module and forms an open frame system through the vertical superposition of concrete grids to create an amazing architectural landscape. This three-dimensional geometric layout not only realizes the design concept of "simple appearance and maze-like complexity inside", but also establishes a direct and barrier-free connection between residents and between residents and nature.
