22 并且你们要为我的名，被众人恨恶，惟有忍耐到底的，必然得救。

All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.

23 有人在这城里逼迫你们，就逃到那城里去。我实在告诉你们，以色列的城邑，你们还没有走遍，人子就到了。

When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another. I tell you the truth, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes.

24 学生不能高过先生，仆人不能高过主人。

"A student is not above his teacher, nor a servant above his master.

25 学生和先生一样，仆人和主人一样，也就罢了。人既骂家主是别西卜，何况他的家人呢？（别西卜是鬼王的名）

It is enough for the student to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master. If the head of the house has been called Beelzebub, how much more the members of his household!

26 所以不要怕他们。因为掩盖的事，没有不露出来的。隐藏的事，没有不被人知道的。

"So do not be afraid of them. There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known.

27 我在暗中告诉你们的，你们要在明处说出来。你们耳中所听的，要在房上宣扬出来。

What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs.

28 那杀身体不能杀灵魂的，不要怕他们。惟有能把身体和灵魂都灭在地狱里的，正要怕他。

Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

29 两个麻雀，不是卖一分银子吗？若是你们的父不许，一个也不能掉在地上。

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father.

30 就是你们的头发，也都被数过了。

And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

31 所以不要惧怕。你们比许多麻雀还贵重。

So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

32 凡在人面前认我的，我在我天上的父面前，也必认他。

"Whoever acknowledges me before men, I will also acknowledge him before my Father in heaven.

33 凡在人面前不认我的，我在我天上的父面前，也必不认他。

But whoever disowns me before men, I will disown him before my Father in heaven.

文字解释

灵巧像蛇（16节）：古代近东文化圈中，用来表示“慎重且有分辨力”时，常使用的格言。

别西卜（25节）：源自以革伦（非利士）的土着神明“巴力西下”（苍蝇王，王下1:2~3),在新约圣经中用来指“鬼王”（12:24)或“撒但”（12:26)。

一分银子（29节）：希腊原文为“assarion”，是罗马帝国的铜币，相当于当时工人一天工价一得拿利（denarius)的十六分之一。
