Since the 1970s, Dr. José Germán Viramonte has been a key figure in geology, particularly in volcanism, with notable research in the Central Andes, Central America, and Antarctica. He began teaching at the National University of Córdoba as a student and has trained many professionals at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He founded and directed the first field volcanology course in the Central Andes at the National University of Salta. For over 25 years, Dr. Viramonte has been a researcher at CONICET. He has authored hundreds of scientific publications that have significantly impacted geology. This volume celebrates his exceptional scientific and educational career, inviting contributions on volcanism in Latin America, its hazards, and related topics.

This special issue delves into the forefront of intelligent marine robotics, emphasizing practical applications in offshore renewable energy, aquaculture, marine conservation, and environmental monitoring. It invites submissions exploring innovative solutions to enhance the capabilities, efficiency, and reliability of single and cooperative marine robotic systems. Key areas of interest include advanced navigation and control systems for Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs), Autonomous Surface Vehicles (ASVs), and Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs), cutting-edge sensing technologies for data collection and analysis, and human-robot interaction and autonomy for efficient and safe operations. Biomimetic and bio-inspired designs for locomotion and navigation, drawing inspiration from nature, are also encouraged. To ensure practical relevance, the special issue prioritizes work with clear applications in marine engineering, excluding purely theoretical studies.
